Frequently Asked Questions

  • The actual flight time is usually 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the weather and landing site. From setup to pack-up, plan on about 2-3 hours total for your full adventure.

  • We schedule flights around sunrise and sunset when the winds are calmest and conditions are safest. Exact meeting times vary with the season, and we’ll confirm your time when you book.

  • Launch sites are chosen based on the day's wind direction. We’ll typically meet at and launch from a designated location near the city of flight. The balloon lands wherever the wind takes it — that’s part of the fun! Our ground crew will meet us for pickup.

  • We typically fly from a few hundred to a few thousand feet above the ground, though sometimes higher or lower depending on conditions. The views are incredible and the ride is smooth — you’ll feel like you’re floating.

  • Absolutely. Your safety is our top priority. Flights are conducted by FAA-certified pilots using aircraft that are regularly inspected and maintained by a FAA-certified repairman. We only fly in weather that meets strict safety standards.

General Flight Information

Booking & Policies

  • You can book online at flypheasantland.com. Once your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive detailed instructions for your flight day.

  • After you reserve your flight online, we’ll email you the day before to confirm your meeting time and location. Weather is a major factor, and if conditions aren't safe, we’ll reschedule—sometimes with short notice. On flight day, you’ll meet the pilot and crew for a brief safety overview and waiver review while the balloon inflates (15–30 minutes). Once ready, you’ll board and enjoy your flight.

  • Ballooning is weather-dependent, and any postponement is for your safety. We recommend having a backup date in mind. If we cancel due to weather and you can't reschedule, prepaid flights are refundable—gift certificates are not.

  • We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice to receive a full refund or reschedule. No-shows or late cancellations will be charged in full with no refunds issued.

  • Yes! Gift cards are available year-round and make a perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions. They never expire and can be used toward any available flight.

Preparing for Your Flight

  • Dress for the outdoor adventure based on the temperature that morning or evening of your flight. Layers are best. Wear closed-toe shoes (no sandals or heels). The burners give off warmth, but it’s not much warmer aloft than on the ground.

  • Yes — and you’ll want to! We encourage you to secure your phone or camera with a wrist strap if possible. We recommend leaving bags in your vehicle; space in the basket is limited.

  • You’ll meet your pilot and crew, sign a quick waiver, and help (if you’d like) with the setup and inflation of the balloon. It’s a fascinating process! After the flight, we’ll pack up and return you to your vehicle.

  • Landings are smooth but can involve a small bump or slide as the basket touches down. Our crew will be there to help stabilize the balloon and assist passengers as they exit.

  • Children must be at least 10 years old. Older adults are welcome, but everyone should be able to stand for about an hour and climb in and out of the basket without assistance.

  • Many people with a fear of heights say ballooning feels completely different. Because you move with the wind, there’s no sensation of motion or falling — just gentle, peaceful floating.

    • Check your messages — we’ll confirm weather and meeting time.

    • Eat a light snack and stay hydrated.

    • Avoid alcohol before your flight.

    • Arrive a few minutes early so you don’t miss the setup.

  • Yes! Spectators are welcome to watch the launch and landing from safe distances. It’s a great photo opportunity and adds to the fun.
